The three minute midnight hour

All these dreams ringing out
The ice age thawed
And these beasts did stir from there slumber
All these people counting down
Three minutes too their midnight hour
And all these bells ringing out
But do your gods ever answer
Where are they now with your hands
Reaching out

I thought I lived in paradise
It was built on sinking sand
I couldn’t see what the future holds
But I wouldn’t let it get me down
If I had your crystal ball
I’d smash it on the ground
And all you need to know is
I don’t worship at your feet

All these dreams ringing out
The ice age thawed
And these beasts did stir from there slumber
All these people counting down
Three minutes too their midnight hour
And all these bells ringing out
But do your gods ever answer
Where are they now with your hands
Reaching out

So you help destroy this place
All those crocodile tears pouring out
Your flooding your baths again
And turning this place upside down
And did your gods absolve you of your sins
Now the floods around your feet
You pray sink or swim

All these dreams ringing out
The ice age thawed
And these beasts did  stir from there slumber
All these people counting down
Three minutes too their midnight hour
And all these bells ringing out
But do your gods ever answer
Where are they now with your hands
Reaching out

So where are gods tonight
Are they safe up in those clouds
Where are your gods tonight
Did you bury them in the ground
To save your skins
Are they in that empty glass
In shaking hands
On your TVs screens, in those magazines
On those mirrors with the whitest lies

All these dreams ringing out
The ice age thawed
And these beasts did stir from there slumber
All these people counting down
Three minutes too their midnight hour
And all these bells ringing out
But do your gods ever answer
Where are they now with your hands
Reaching out
