The tower. (Paper diary digitally updated)

I remember the bells rang out
As we ran through cobbled streets
We climbed the tower in search of
It seems like only the other week.

These windswept plains
Knocked us from our feet
As we climbed up to get a better view
I left my guard down on the bottom step
As I thought you would too.

But I can’t justify what you did to me
Makes my blood run cold
Turns my heart to stone
And I could waste my life
Haunting you for years
But if the truth be told
I know it would end in tears

Your bloody footsteps gave your games away
I choose to turn the other cheek
And all the sins from which you now run
And secrets that you wish to keep
